Create you Web Site with a Content Management System (CMS)

We offer 4 "FREE" CMS's, Joomla, Drupal, Mambo and , e107

A content management system (CMS) is a pre-built system used to manage the content of a Web site. CMS's are used for sites ranging from simple five-pagers to complex corporate applications, and are recommended for intermediate to expert Web users--mostly due to the learning curve required to understanding the data structure (i.e. sections, categories, content).

CMS applications are frequently used by more than one content manager or author (who may or may not know HTML) to collaborate in the creation, modification, and removal of content from a Web site. The features of a CMS system vary, but most include Web-based publishing, revision control, and indexing, search, and retrieval.

Web-based publishing enables individuals to use a template, wizards and other tools to create or modify Web content. Revision control allows content to be updated to a newer version or restored to a previous version, will also track any changes made to files by individuals. In addition, CMS systems index all data within an organization so individuals can then search for data using keywords, which the application retrieves.

Additional functionality, often identified as "plug-ins," "mods," or "extensions," can be added through the specific application's Web site, and may include the ability to add picture galleries, forums, blogs, and more.

Blog Options

Just about every website on the web has a blog to add "Content" to the site. Search Engines love original content and we have 3 different Blog options for "FREE", WordPress, PixelPost and b2evolution.

Overview: What is a blog?

A blog is a type of Web site driven by regular entries of commentary (posts), which are maintained by either an individual or a group of authors. Blogging software is typically easy to administer, employing a rich-text editor for posting entries and pictures, and is recommended for beginners to expert Web users.

Posts are typically displayed in reverse-chronological order, and allow for reader comments that facilitate discussion on the topic at hand. Some blogs focus on providing information on a particular subject, whereas others serve as an ongoing online journal or diary. A typical blog includes text, images, links to other blogs (a blogroll), Web pages and other media (podcasts, videos, etc.) related to its topic. Additional functionality, often identified as "plug-ins" or "mods," can be added through the specific application's Web site.

We also offer Photo Galleries

We provide you the ability to install a photo gallery on your Web site so that others can browse your pictures online. Photo galleries are great for photographers, artists, non-profits, people with personal Web sites, etc., and are usually fairly easy to set up and administer.

There are 3 "FREE" Photo Galleries to choose from, Gallery2, Coppermine and ZenPhoto Photo gallery applications typically come with an easy-to-use upload wizard to get your photos online, plus the ability to create albums, rename photos, add descriptions and sometimes the ability for your visitors to leave comments.

A forum is another way to generate original content that search engines love!

And we offer 3 different Forums absolutely "FREE", Gbook, phpBB and SMF

Overview: What is a forum?

A forum is a discussion or message board site that typically centers around a particular theme, and allows visitors or members of the forum community to post a topic of discussion (usually a question) to facilitate response posts from others. Forums are often built with the aim of creating a community that shares knowledge and experience of a particular topic to support other members. Forum applications are recommended for more experienced beginners to expert Web users.

Forums are broken into multiple categories under which different discussion threads are created. Categories help organize the forum into subtopics for easier viewer consumption and interaction. All posts are expected to be on topic with the theme of the board, and assigned Moderators of a forum are responsible for keeping discussions on point. Depending upon how the software is set up by the administrator, some forums may require a member to register a profile and log in to be able to post; other forums allow guests to post without registering. It is strongly recommended that membership is required in order to be able to post; otherwise unauthorized users can post spam to a board and destroy its credibility, as well as create a security risk.

We also offer 3 "FREE" E-commerce Solutions!

The 3 "FREE" shopping carts that we offer are: osCommerce, AgoraCart and ZenCart

Overview: What is E-commerce?

E-commerce consists of the buying and selling of products or services over the Internet, and usually includes an online shopping cart and a payment gateway solution. Shopping cart applications, which are free through InstallCentral, provide the ability to showcase products and lead a customer through the process of making his or her selection and checking out. These applications are recommended for intermediate to expert Web users.

As the majority of a customer's experience is spent perusing products and services on a site, it's important to select shopping cart software that looks professional to a visitor and suits a business' needs from an ease-of-use and functionality standpoint. Most shopping cart applications provide the ability to upload product images, assign pricing, calculate shipping costs and tax by location, give discounts by quantity or special coupons, send e-mail receipts and more. The actual credit card transaction is separate and handled by an online merchant gateway provider, such as PowerPay (our preferred credit card processing partner) or a third-party such as PayPal.
